How does the booking process work?+
Four simple steps. First, book online and pay the $75 refundable deposit to hold your slot. Second, upload your driver's license and proof of insurance at
offdutytrailers.com/pre-pickup. Third, we reach out to confirm, verify your info, and collect the remaining balance. Fourth, show up, do a quick walk-around, hook up, and roll. All rates are tax-inclusive — no surprises.
What do I need to rent a trailer?+
You must be 25 years of age or older with a valid driver's license. You'll also need proof of insurance on your tow vehicle and a card on file for the deposit and rental balance. Upload your license and insurance card through our pre-pickup form before pickup — it takes less than 2 minutes. Age is verified at pickup with a valid photo ID — no exceptions.
Do you offer supplemental liability insurance?+
Yes — renters can purchase optional Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI) through our insurance provider. It provides additional liability protection while the trailer is in your possession, on top of your existing tow vehicle coverage. Ask us about SLI when we reach out to confirm your booking and we'll get you set up.
What size hitch ball do I need?+
Both trailers use a standard 2-inch ball hitch — and we include a ball mount and hitch adapter with every rental, stored in the lockbox on the trailer. As long as your truck has a receiver hitch, you're good to go. Not sure? Text us before you book and we'll confirm.
Do I need to bring my own hitch or straps?+
Nope — every rental includes a ball mount, hitch adapter, ratchet straps, and wheel chocks stored in a lockbox on the trailer. Just show up with your truck. We've got the rest covered.
How is pricing structured?+
Simple and transparent — no surprise fees. Longer rentals save you money automatically.

First responders & military get 10% off any rate. A $75 refundable security deposit is collected at booking. All rates are tax-inclusive — no surprise charges at checkout.
Is there a security deposit?+
Yes — a $75 refundable security deposit is collected at booking to hold your time slot. It is returned within 48 hours of the trailer coming back in good condition. The remaining rental balance is collected before pickup once we confirm your booking.
How do I get the first responder or military discount?+
Select Yes on the pre-pickup document form and note your branch or department. We verify at confirmation and apply the 10% discount to your balance before collecting payment. No applications, no waiting — every time, no exceptions.
Where do I upload my license and insurance?+
Once you book and pay the deposit, complete your pre-pickup document upload at
offdutytrailers.com/pre-pickup. It takes less than 2 minutes. We need a photo of your driver's license and proof of insurance on your tow vehicle before we can confirm your booking and collect the balance.
Can I keep the trailer for multiple days or a full week?+
Absolutely — and it saves you money. A weekend (Fri–Sun) runs $175 versus $240 if you booked three separate days. Weekly rates are built for contractors and bigger projects. Select your dates at booking and the rate calculates automatically.
Can I take the trailer out of state?+
Yes — no problem taking it across state lines for your job or haul. The trailer needs to come back to Monroe, NC when you're done. We're not a one-way rental operation. As long as it's back on time and in good shape, where you take it in between is your business.
What happens if I damage the trailer?+
We do a photo walk-around at pickup and return so both sides are documented. Normal wear is expected and no problem. If significant damage occurs, repair costs are applied against the $75 deposit first, then to the card on file for any remainder. Your signed rental agreement covers the details. Bottom line: treat it like you'd want someone to treat yours and we'll never have that conversation.
